Fandom: Bioshock Infinite
Length: 2787 words, part 1/1
Characters: Booker Dewitt, his parents, Anna Dewitt, Robert Lutece (very briefly)
Warnings: Severe alcoholism/alcohol dependency, violence, racism, language, emesis
Type: ANGST FUCK YEAH, flashbacks/hallucinations
Summary: Booker DeWitt struggles to end his alcoholism, but the resulting horrors may prove too difficult to face.
Booker DeWitt stared blearily at a blank wall.
He couldn’t remember the last time he had eaten. There was only a dull rumble in the area of his stomach to suggest that something was missing. His head throbbed more urgently, and he closed his eyes to avoid the double vision. His hand wrapped around the neck of an empty bottle.
This was it. He was done, fucking done
, with alcohol. He was tired of the hip flask, heavy on his leg, that rested where he could keep another weapon. He was tired of the way it ate and ate at the little he managed to make. He had wanted another apartment for how many years? He was so goddamned tired of staring at these walls and remembering what used to be beyond them.
So he was finished with the acrid burn in his throat, and the bottles littering the dusty floor.
Booker sighed. He’d heard how bad it could get, letting the bottle go. He didn’t think it would be quite as bad for him – he was functional, he could still get a job done with how much he drank – but a thread of fear uncurled itself in the back of his mind. The fear of failure, familiar to him the way nothing else was these days.
He lurched to his feet and stumbled from his chair to the bedroom, pulling off his boots and shedding his clothes as he went. He flopped onto the bed, landing on his back, and his right hand came up to rest on his forehead. He closed his eyes to avoid seeing the AD stamped into his flesh. Maybe that was familiar to him, too.
The watch on the nightstand ticked accusingly. He shoved it to the side. Time to sleep. Morning might bring something better.( He was a boy, again.Collapse )

This is my first Bioshock fanmix and my first post here @ cityofrapture
. I found this community thanks to the original Swingin' with Sinclair
. I recently made a Bioshock related playlist on iTunes that consists of a mix of songs from the games and other songs (mostly jazz) from that era, and suddenly I figured I might as well compile a fanmix of my own. It all started with that first track. Despite the fact that it's got that quintessential jazzy swing about it, the song is pretty recent. And the lyrics are quite spot on, too. The rest sort of got fitted in after a bit of browsing through the aforementioned iTunes playlist. (ALTHOUGH THE THEMES ARE SIMILAR, I DO NOT CLAIM ANY RIGHTS TO THE PREVIOUS SINCLAIR-CENTRIC FANMIX IN THIS COMM. Just couldn't come up with a snazzier name, that's all!)
, I hope you don't mind I'm sort of picking up the thread you created, but a) already mentioned that I couldn't find a better name and b) there's so much awesome jazzy music out there that deserves to be linked to Bioshock and Sinclair - hence the "vol 2", it's a bit of a tribute and a sequel rolled into one.)Bioshock 2
is one of the best games I've ever played. And Augustus Sinclair is my favourite game character ever. (also, he's my current fangirl crush - can you blame me? That smile and that accent, rawr!)
( Tracklist & download link behind le cutCollapse )
For my class Games Learning and Society me and another girl played BioShock, I fell completely in love with this game and we decided to do a live action mock trailer for a BioShock movie and a sneak peek scene of the "movie" for our Final project.
(I hope I did this right)
Would anybody out there be interested in a BioShock RP since this one
seems to be dead in the water? I'd love to get one started up again, but I certainly don't want to be the only one playing!

We had an amazing time at Ohayocon! When compared to our home con, it was really huge. We were sad that we couldn't buy Pocky or Ramune at the dealer's room, but we met some really awesome people. Anyway, here's one of the pictures I took. Sorry for the bad quality, it was taken on my ipod, haha...
That vampire was so good about Fae "harvesting" him xD He couldn't lie down, so he kneeled for us. When Fae asked if she could have his ADAM he said something like, "Sure, sure. Where do you harvest that from again? Here? *holds out wrists* It's been such a long time..." We absolutely loved his costume too!

just wondering what everyone's favorite load outs are?
I used to use the machine gun + winter blast a lot, but a few months ago I got a tip from a really good player to use the shotgun + telekinesis, and it's been working marvelously.
for team adam grab, having winter blast as a defense & houdini for when I swipe the sister has also been working really well.
just wanna hear what everyone else likes to use!

I literally don't have any friends to play Bioshock 2 multiplayer with, and it's pretty frustrating to ALWAYS play with randoms. it'd be fun to play with folks who'd like to talk and plan our games a bit. would anyone be interested in playing sometime? I play on Xbox Live, just leave me your gamer tag and I'll add you!
ps I'm level 34 currently
Hey guys, does anyone have an image of the drawing Eleanor left Delta on the floor in Bioshock2?
It looked like a kindergarten drawing, stick figurey I believe?
I really want this image but I can't find it. D: If anyone could help that would be great!
Thank you so much!
The trailer teased a return to the underwater failed Utopia of Rapture, first seen in 2007's BioShock. But last night, we saw BioShock Infinite in action, a live demo. This next big thing from Ken Levine's Irrational Games is something different.
This is the BioShock of a floating city, of America in 1912, of a helpful damsel in semi-distress and of something called the Skyline.
"The time for silence is over," said Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games to a room full of reporters at New York's Plaza Hotel on Wednesday night, seconds before the BioShock Infinite trailer began. We were a controlled audience, our laptops and cell phones confiscated before we entered a small ballroom and sat in front of the stage and screen from which Irrational would show its new project. The news vans outside the hotel had not been for BioShock Infinite but for controversial Democrat Congressman Charlie Rangel, whose birthday party was one story above and whose House ethics investigation is ongoing.
Levine's team is one of the most acclaimed and secretive in game development. Since the '07 BioShock, which they made in partnership with 2K Australia, Irrational gave no hint about what they were working on, no clue that they were making another BioShock. They were not involved in this year's BioShock 2, which was created by several sister studios and was set in that undersea city of Rapture. But Irrational, which had, for a time, been known as 2K Boston, is indeed back on the franchise and allowed Wednesday night for their new trailer tease briefly that they were back on the virtual ocean floor.
Their trailer begins with a camera swoop across what appears to be ocean bottom, past an iconic BioShock Big Daddy. But that's just a trick, a look inside the fish tank of a man on the place where BioShock Infinite is really set, the early-20th century airborne crumbling metropolis of Columbia.

DISCUSS. I'm SO PUMPED for this.
I totally think that Rapture and Columbia are connected. For some reason, I feel like Rapture could be the "sanctuary" or "permanent refugee camp" to Columbia. So Andrew Ryan, wanting to create the perfect utopia, created Rapture for the people wanting to escape from Colombia.
What do you guys think? :D
